Located at Baden Powell Primary School since September 2015, La Petite Ecole des Crocodiles is primarily a Saturday morning school.
Les Crocodiles offers language lessons adapted to the needs of children aged etween 6 months to 14 years old. The school is supported by the FLAM programme (French as a native Language) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It also offers FLE classes (French as a Foreign Language) for children less exposed to French or non-French speakers. Private lessons are also available à la carte.
This class is aimed at children aged 6 months to 4 years. The class is open to all. Being familiar with French is not essential at this stage. This is an early learning class. It is a fun filled hour involving activities such as storytelling, singing, nursery rhymes, puppetry and mime.
THE FLAM CURRICULUM (FRANÇAIS LANGUE MATERNELLE)
To access the FLAM curriculum, the child must be at least 3 years old as of 1st September and has at least one French-speaking parent or lived in a French speaking country long enough to be able to understand and/or express him/herself in French. When joining, the child will be evaluated during 2 weeks to ensure the FLAM curriculum is adapted to his/her needs.
Our FLAM classes are designed to apprehend the French language or to consolidate oral and written French and they follow the French national curriculum. Rhymes, stories and games stimulate little ones to express themselves and have fun. The classes for toddlers focus on the discovery of sounds, writing, comprehension and reading by learning about different types of literature. The most advanced children learn grammar, spelling and conjugation using creative methods and are introduced to the richness of French culture.
N.B : We cannot guaranty that all level classes will be available from 1 year to another.
THE FLE CLASSES (FRENCH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE)
These classes are dedicated to children aged 5+ wishing to learn French as a foreign language or children not exposed enough to the French language at home. The main objective of the classes is for children to understand and express themselves in French and the focus is on everyday conversational language.
